Decision Support System (DSS)

Portfolio: Risk Response

Project Title: Decision Support System (DSS), 2020 USDA National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP)

Status: In progress

Overview: On March 15th 2021, IIAD kicked off a new project sponsored by the 2020 USDA National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP). This effort will create a Decision Support System (DSS) that will aid state and federal veterinary officials and producers in the event of a large-scale swine disposal scenario. The DSS will provided rationale and considerations pertinent to the use of on-farm or centralized location remediation/disposal methods and assist decision-makers in considering and examining factors associated with each option. Through the use of visual schematics and supporting narrative and rationale, users will be able to weigh existing evidence and best practices in conjunction alongside situational context to guide them towards the best decision regarding disposal options in a given animal health emergency.
