Project Title: ToT/ToM In-Service Applied Veterinary Epidemiology Training (ISAVET) – Kenya & Cameroon

Status: Complete (2019)

Overview: IIAD’s international collaboration with FAO and public health agencies is intended to develop a self-sustaining Frontline ISAVET among African countries currently identified under the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) initiative supported by the U.S. government.  Training of Trainers (ToT) and Training of Mentors (ToM) program through ISAVET will build transferable skills for present and future veterinarians and strengthen country and regional capacity to improve health and prevent and control disease at the human-animal-wildlife interface. Ultimately, ISAVET will strengthen public health, animal health and wildlife disease programmes by strengthening early disease detection and rapid response.

Outcomes, Solutions, & Impact:

  • Kenya & Cameroon ToT & ToM Workshops
    • In all four workshops for the Post-Survey, Trainers and Mentors were asked to rate their abilities on a predetermined selection of skills which are critical to their future success in the Frontline ISAVET Programme. Results can bee seen in Table 1.

    • In all four workshops, participants demonstrated statistically significant increases in knowledge from pre- to post-test (Table 2)
