Dr. Jennifer Schleining, a clinical professor and large animal surgeon, serves as head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (VLCS) at the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS).
Schleining previously served as the interim VLCS department head in fall 2022 and spring 2023 while continuing to provide support to her colleagues as a clinician in the Texas A&M Large Animal Teaching Hospital’s (LATH) Food Animal Service and educator in the pre-clinical classrooms and teaching laboratories.

Serving as a professor and beef extension veterinarian at Mississippi State University, Carla has over 25 years of experience in livestock health and emergency management. She teaches in the DVM curriculum and also serves as the state’s beef extension veterinarian, providing training to veterinarians, veterinary students, livestock producers, and emergency management personnel. She is board-certified in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, with specialty certification in Epidemiology.

Cheikh Fall has served as an agricultural and animal health specialist and consultant for over 20 years with expertise is epidemiology, zoonotic diseases, and capacity building and training. He has previously worked with the Institute to develop frontline training tools for the In Service Applied Veterinary Epidemiology Training (ISAVET).

Dr. Melissa Sheth is currently finishing up her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, having previously received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2021 from the same institution. Melissa is passionate about pursuing a career that embraces the One Health framework, and her academic interests include public health implications of zoonotic disease, conservation medicine, diversity, equity, and inclusion in both the animal and human medical fields. In addition to having experience as a small animal general practitioner, Melissa has conducted anthropological research and enjoys teaching/mentorship activities.
