New student fellow added to IIAD team
The Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases (IIAD) recently added a new student worker to their team. Elizabeth Rodriguez will serve under IIAD’s associate director, Heather Simmons, DVM, MSVPH, assisting
with programmatic operations in the Institute.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Elizabeth is a freshman at Texas A&M University pursuing an animal science degree with an agricultural business minor and a certificate in equine science. She currently serves as an active member of the Texas A&M Pre-Veterinary Society and Aggies for Animal Rescue. She said this position at IIAD offers a unique opportunity to learn more about different aspects of business.
“I hope to gain valuable life skills when it comes to collaborating with others, research tools, and writing
documents such as contracts and grants, along with experience in the way business is handled internationally,” Elizabeth said.
After graduation, Elizabeth will pursue veterinary school and specialize in surgery. She plans to open her
own veterinary practice specializing in equine care.
