Strengthening Biosecurity Through Collaboration
The Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases (IIAD) is proud to celebrate the successful completion of a collaborative project with SAFOSO and the Texas Poultry Federation. Together, the project examined the social, behavioral, and demographic factors influencing how poultry farmers develop and implement their biosecurity plans.
This collaboration provided valuable insights into industry motivations, attitudes, and knowledge, helping identify opportunities for more effective outreach and clearer communication. The findings support stronger, more tailored biosecurity strategies—ultimately contributing to reduced infectious disease risk across the poultry sector.
The IIAD project team included Dr. Heather Simmons, Dr. Jimmy Tickel, Dr. Morgan Farnell, and Julie Stowell‑Moss, M.Ed., PMP.
IIAD is grateful for the partnership and proud of the project’s impact on advancing practical, science‑based approaches to disease prevention.
