Preparedness in Action: Poultry Training for Crisis Response

Funded by USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases (IIAD) developed a national poultry industry training program designed to strengthen emergency response capabilities among state and federal animal health officials.

Through hands‑on training courses and strategic industry partnerships, the program enhanced readiness for animal health emergencies, supported coordinated response efforts, and strengthened protections for the U.S. poultry industry. This initiative also played a critical role in building long‑term resilience against reportable and foreign animal diseases, ensuring officials are better prepared to respond swiftly and effectively during a crisis.

This project reflects IIAD’s commitment to advancing preparedness, safeguarding animal health, and supporting the nation’s agricultural infrastructure through applied training and collaboration.
