IIAD Welcomes Olivia Joy Perkins as Extern

The Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases (IIAD) is excited to welcome Olivia Joy Perkins as a veterinary extern for the next four weeks.

Olivia is a fourth‑year veterinary student at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she is pursuing the production animal track. She is also concurrently completing a Master of Public Health through the University of Minnesota. Her interests include public health, food animal health, and global health, with a strong commitment to protecting animal health and strengthening food systems.

As a USDA Saul T. Wilson Jr. Scholar, Olivia plans to dedicate her career to public service, with a focus on advancing disease prevention, enhancing surveillance systems, and improving food system resilience in the United States and around the world. During her time at IIAD, she looks forward to learning more about the Institute’s role in these efforts and engaging with IIAD’s diverse network of partners and stakeholders.
